When talk of the sleaze was first initiated, Phil Lodge was blissfully unaware on the other side of the globe. In fact, a disillusioned Phil had left about 10 months prior to embark on a trip to Australia and Thailand following the disappointment of the split of his old band.
The rest of the band were adamant that they wanted Phil on bass and were relieved upon his return that he met the idea of another band with a renewed enthusiasm and vigour.
Phil has a major impact upon the sleaze’s overall sound. His bass guitar doesn’t just hold a beat within the rhythm section but is often
looked upon
as a lead instrument. On more than one occasion Phil has provided such strong bass lines that entire songs have been constructed around them. Not content with this, Phil also provides backing vocals on several of the band's songs.
With nimble fingers that dart around every notch on his fret board and a strong onstage presence, Phil has proven himself to be a real asset to the sleaze.
